is this real life or just a simulation?

SUT+. Training & Simulation.

SUT+ is two events in one – High quality training following on from SUT in Galway (July 2025) and a challenging simulation exercise based on real life students’ union problem solving.

For many attendees, the SUT+ ‘Ballybreag’ simulation is the capstone on the summer training programme, helping them put learning and knowledge into place.  It’s a structured but medium-high pressure exercise, pulling together the lore of Students’ Unions, the experience of teamwork and the skillset gained during SUT.

SUT+ takes place at Queen’s University Belfast Students’ Union from 13-15 August 2025.

We’ll do the check-in from 1pm at the Students’ Union and departure will be on Friday after the Comhairle Náisiúnta meeting,

SUT+ is a training event including a hands on, focused simulation exercise, compressing a whole semester’s major incidents and troubles into five hours of intensive exercise, reflection and discussion.

All Sabbatical Officers in AMLÉ membership may attend SUT.

You should register and plan to attend at Queen’s Students’ Union from 1pm on Wednesday 13 August 2025.

Accommodation will be at Queen’s Elms Village halls of residence.

  • A focused positive attitude
  • A desire to learn from and share knowledge with our expert trainers and fellow trainees
  • Clothes for 3 days.  Bring wet wear and comfortable clothes for training – it’s Belfast
  • Sleepwear
  • Toiletries
  • Any prescription drugs you rely on for the whole programme
  • Sterling. Belfast is not in the Eurozone, but it uses chip and pin just like the south.
  • You must be a sabbatical officer in an AMLÉ member organisation to attend SUT
  • You don’t have to have attended SUT 2025 to attend SUT+
  • Bring your ID – some of the social activities are likely to be in the Union Bar.
  • Safety – Belfast is a bigger city than Galway and the summer season iw not yet completed.  We recommend travelling through the city in groups as far as possible.  It’s generally a safe place for visitors,
