SUT+ 2023 will take place from 14 to 16 August 2023 at Queen’s Students’ Union, Belfast.

SUT+ is the culmination of the primary student representative Sabbatical Officer training event, provided for members of the Union of Students in Ireland. It is a trilateral event, welcoming members from every member organisation across the island of Ireland.  We are proud to deliver this event at the brand new QSU building – it’s quite something.

SUT+ begins with specialist training sessions and policy briefings, with the Simulation Exercise simulating a semester in the life of Ballybreag Technological University. Participants will meet a crew of characters and a number of real issues, based on the recent experince of students’ unions across Ireland and the UK.  It’s challenging, it’s fun, and its an opportunity to try out the skills and methods you learned in Tralee.

SUT+ should be attended by all officers who attended SUT.  There is no additional charge for SUT+ for people who participated in SUT.

The Training Environment

No element of training at SUT+ is mandatory.

The training enviroment at SUT+ simulation exercise will be noisy and the noise can be sudden and unpredictable.

Some parts of the simulation at SUT+ may contain content which is (inadvertantly) personally challenging and could be upsetting to some people; this is in the nature of the content being discussed and the desire to ensure material is covered effectively.

QUB is a compact campus, but the student accommodation is located off campus at Queen’s Elms Halls of Residence, about 17 minutes’ walk away. Public bus services run from the University to the accommodation, and may be joined on the street.  You will need to pay for this service in Sterling coins.

QUB is reachable by public transport from Belfast City Centre, but you may wish to take a taxi from public transport hubs to get to the Queen’s Elms Halls of Residence.

The Social Environment
